Bio

This school year begins my seventeenth year teaching in Greenville County Middle Schools. I taught my first fifteen years at Bryson Middle School. I taught seventh grade social studies for my first eleven years, eighth grade social studies for three years, and this will be third year of teaching sixth grade social studies. Fifteen years at Bryson, last year in the Virtual Academy Program, and this year back at Bryson.

I received my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Clemson University in 2005, specializing in Middle School Social Studies and Mathematics. Before becoming a teacher I worked in banking for 13 years and I was a stay-at-home Dad for 5 years. I was born and raised in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. I was fortunate enough to play varsity high school baseball for four years and college baseball at West Virginia University for four years.

I have two wonderful children. Matthew graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 2014 with a Business degree in Global Supply Chain Operations Management. He is employed by Tessa Tape in Charlotte. Caroline graduated from the University of South Carolina in May of 2017 with a Bachelors degree in Nursing. She is employed by Jeff Gordon's Children's Hospital in Charlotte as a pediatric nurse. I live in Mauldin and enjoy spending my free time with my children. My hobbies include playing golf, hiking, playing with my dog Mattie, watching sports in person or on television and cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Gamecocks, and the Carolina Panthers!

I look forward to another successful and fun year teaching and learning about World History! I am so excited to be back at Bryson Middle School this year!
