About Me

My name is Sra. Mayra Burgos. I am originally from Venezuela, South America. I earned a Bachelor's Degree at Limestones University, an AA degree in EC & Education at Greenville Technical College in South Carolina. I have worked for the SC Department of Education for fifteen years. I have extensive knowledge of the Hispanic culture in the United States and in Latin America. I will be teaching Spanish I & II next school year at Hillcrest High School. I believe it is essential for students to study a second language. If they are bilingual, they are not only going to make more money, but learning Spanish is also rapidly becoming a business necessity. It is my goal for each of my students to become confident using Spanish and develop an understanding of the diverse Hispanic and Latin cultures. Since I was a second-language learner myself, I know what my students are going to experience.
