Dress Code

Due to the active nature of Physical Education class, students will be required to "dress out" each day. By dressing out, students will practice good hygiene, learn responsibility, and prevent damage to their school uniform. Below are the Physical Education Dress Uniform requirements. These requirements are for both male and female students in grades 6, 7, and 8.

  • What to bring:
    • PLAIN short or long sleeved RED t-shirt,
      • Hughes Academy shirts are the ONLY shirts allowed with writing.
    • Grey athletic shorts/sweatpants,
    • Tennis shoes with socks,
    • Deodorant (no spray deodorant), lotion, hair tie, etc.
    • Combination lock
  • What NOT to bring:
    • Sleeveless shirts/tank tops/low-cut v-neck shirts,
    • Spandex/tights, or shorts that violate the “fingertip” policy,
    • Crocs, boots, toms, or sandals.
  • Indoor/Outdoor Policies
    • Several Physical Education units require the use of outdoor facilities. Students will be made aware that class will be held outdoors at least one day in advance.
    • When class is held outdoors:
      • Be sure to bring shoes that you do not mind getting dirty.
      • Dress code clothing should be weather appropriate (sweatshirts/jackets are allowed),
      • On warm days, we encourage the use of sunscreen, hats, and/or sunglasses.
  • Reminders:
    • Students do NOT need to tuck in their Physical Education uniform. :)
    • Students are asked to leave their ID and lanyard locked in their school issued Physical Education locker.
    • Students need to be certain to leave all jewelry, electronics, and any other valuables securely locked in Physical Education locker.
