Chapter 2 Reading Horizons
Blends - A blend is two or three consonants standing together, each keeping its own sound. The blends may be pronounced with a schwa sound in isolation.
Special Vowel Combinations - Vowels with double l, ng, or nk at the end of short words
Digraphs - A combination of two letters representing one sound
Most Common Words - Students practice reading and recognizing Most Common Words in isolation and in a sentence. Students learn that that Most Common Words are not always decodable, and are words we do have to work to recognize quickly.
