About Me...

Welcome to my page! I'm Kate Spigener, and this is my fourth year teaching at FIHS. It is my 15th year in Education, including 3 years at Sumter High School, 4 years at Clinton Middle School, and 5 years in Grant work/Academic Intervention at Clinton High School. I live with my husband and 2 daughters, and our pets. I graduated from Presbyterian College in '06 with a degree in Secondary English Education and a minor in Music, and I'm currently working towards my Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning from Clemson. I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, traveling, making music, and spending time with my family. My favorite thing about working in education is building relationships with students from all walks of life. I can't wait to get to know all of you and your families this year!

Mission Statement

I am committed to students leaving my class as readers, writers, and thinkers who take risks, seek out opportunities for growth, and understand the power of words. I want my students to use words to influence, build up, and encourage others to find their own voice, as well.
