Education Support

What is Educational Support?

  • Educational Support is formerly known as "Tutorial" or "Resource". During their Educational Support class, students will receive individual or small group assistance in understanding concepts presented in their general education courses, along with specialized instruction in areas where students have academic weaknesses, as noted in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Students will also explore study skills, learning styles, and post-secondary transition options throughout the course of the year. Educational Support is scheduled into the student's school day, as indicated in their IEP. This course is only available for students who have been identified under the Individuals with Education Act as a student with a disability.

More Important Information:

Attendance:

    • It is important to attend school every day!

    • When a student is absent from any class, it is the student's responsibility to ask teachers for make-up work (they will not remind you!)

    • Students missing 10 days in any class may not receive credit (in other words, you might fail a class because of absences, even if you are making a passing grade in that class)

Grades:

    • Weekly grades are obtained by averaging daily time manager/folder grades. Progress Report and Report Card grades are obtained by averaging weekly grades.
