About Me

I was born in Greenville, South Carolina and have lived here my entire life. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Chris, for 13 years. We have an 8 year old son, Jude, and a dog named Chewie. We love spending time outdoors! After graduating from Mauldin High School, I attended Greenville Technical College and achieved an Associate of Science degree with honors. Following this, I transferred to Furman University with a focus on biology and psychology.

I have always known I wanted to help others and work in healthcare but was unsure which direction I wanted to take. I started my first healthcare job in nutrition and dietary services at St Francis hospital on a part-time basis while attending Furman. Later, I took a full time position working as a clinical research assistant at the Cancer Centers of the Carolinas. I was planning to pursue a path in radiation therapy, and I began the radiologic technology program at Greenville Technical College. Suddenly and unexpectedly at the end of the first semester, my father suffered a cerebellar hemorrhagic stroke. I took time off to assist with his care but had planned to return to the program the following year. While working at Open MRI of Simpsonville, I attended therapy sessions with my father. During that time, I fell in love with occupational therapy! I discovered occupational therapy provides a holistic approach that is individualized to each person. It truly is a mix of creativity, compassion, and science!

I returned to Greenville Technical College and began the occupational therapy assistant program. While completing a level II fieldwork with National Healthcare, I developed a passion for working with older adults. I subsequently took a position at NHC Clinton and NHC Homecare Laurens. I worked in the subacute and homecare setting for about 6 months then transferred to NHC Mauldin full-time. I worked as an occupational therapy assistant for 7 years at NHC Mauldin while completing my Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Concordia University Wisconsin through a bridge program. I have been an occupational therapist at NHC Mauldin for the past 6 years.

This is my second year teaching at Woodmont High School! I had a wonderful first year, and it is my continued hope and dream to inspire others! These kids are AWESOME!
