All About Me

  Welcome!!! My name is Karen Richardson and I have been teaching for 33 years. This will be my 21st full year at Robert E. Cashion Elementary. I attended the University of South Carolina, where I received my Bachelors of Art in Art Education and Elementary Education. I added my Masters in Elementary Education, from Furman University. This year will be my ninth year teaching Art!!!  I am very excited to use my degree in Art Education after teaching Second Grade for 11 years at RECES.  I hope to bring the ARTIST out of every student!!!

 I have lived in the Mauldin area for over 25 years. I have a daughter, Kristen and son-in-law, Kyle. They recently moved to Anchorage, Alaska.   I am Oma to two wonderful grandsons- George (8) and Ben (6)!  I was able to go visit them in Alaska over the summer.   My  son, Jay  lives in Michigan with his wife, Emmaleigh.  I am, also, Oma to Cooper who is now 17 months old!   We had a great week at the beach.  I  have a Border Collie/Golden Retriever named Ellie.  She will soon be 13 years old.    I also have 4 grandpups-Pepperoni, Olive, Piper, and Remy. 

I am looking forward to another great year with all the students!!!   

I was very honored to have been chosen as Robert E. Cashion's Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010.
