ABOUT ME

Thanks for stopping in! Let me start by telling you a little about myself. 2017-2018 will be my third year teaching as a Literacy Specialist at Ellen Woodside Elementary. I have been at EWE since 2012, as a fourth grade teacher, third grade teacher, and now my current position. I have been teaching since 2005 with a year interruption (2008-2009) when my family moved to the upstate.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of South Alabama. I majored in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. Additionally, I have a certification as a Literacy Specialist. I continue to learn and grow as a teacher through professional development.

George and I have two children (Annalyse- 9, George Ryan- 2 years) and two dogs (Aspen and Maisie). George and little Ryan love to watch Auburn football games on the TV. My daughter, Annalyse, loves to cheer. As she often puts it... Cheer is her life.

I am dedicated on creating a literate environment that fosters reading and writing by integrating fundamental knowledge and instructional practices where learners are effective. I will advocate and engage students in literacy practices that develop awareness, understanding, respect, and value differences in our society. I promise to do all I can to support my students and coworkers in the classroom setting and in their learning. I believe collaboration is the key to success. Please let me know how the best support I can provide you!
