Expectations

Welcome to 3rd Grade!

Dear PRES Families,

We are excited for a memorable year at Pelham Road Elementary School. This is just a glimpse at some of the expectations and classroom management information that I will be using during the year. For more detailed information, please check out our websites throughout the school year.

Third Grade Classroom Expectations

I am a firm believer that students need to make decisions about their behavior and take responsibility for their choices.  I strive for a positive learning environment in the classroom, where children have an opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.  I expect the students to follow the rules and respect me and each other at all times.

1.   Please treat me with the same respect I treat you.

2.   Feel free to do anything that doesn’t cause a problem for anyone else.

3.   If you cause a problem, I will ask you to solve it.

4.   If you can’t solve the problem, or choose not to, I will do something.

5.   What I do will depend on the special person and the special situation.

3rd Grade Behavior System:

In 3rd grade, students will be tracking their behavior using their individual Behavior Tracker/Calendar. This helps promote ownership and responsibility for one’s behavior. Each day, students will use the tracker (located in the back of their folder) to record their behavior for the day. We ask that parents initial each day on the tracker. At the end of the week, the teacher will check the student’s tracker and, with the student’s help, will figure out how many points were earned that week (see Rewards and Consequences below for more information).  Then, the student will be able to purchase items/rewards in the classroom store using their earned points or may choose to continue to save their points.

 Rewards and Consequences:

*Students may purchase Classroom Coupons or visit the Classroom Store using their points earned.

We will be using the following system:

                  “Think Sheet”/phone call/conference

Students will start out with 5 points at the beginning of the school year.
