About Me

Welcome!

While I am no fledgling to the English classroom, I am so blessed to begin my second year at Wade Hampton High School. Last year, my husband and I moved from Birmingham, AL, where I taught ninth grade English at Mountain Brook Junior High. I have a B.S. in Secondary English/Language Arts from the University of Alabama and a M.A. in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama. My classroom experience spans fifteen years of teaching English 9, English 10, English 11, Advanced Placement Language and Composition, and Creative Writing. I have also taught in Atlanta, Ga.

My husband and I have been married for 29 years and have three children. Aaron, 25, produces bass music and traveled the nation (pre-Covid). Mary Claire, 23, is a recent graduate of Auburn University, and Davis, 21, is a senior at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). I love spending time with my family, attending Bama games, traveling, reading, and working out.

My top priority in the classroom is forging relationships with my students and empowering them to be lifelong learners. While the virtual platform makes teaching a bit more challenging, I am dedicated to making this year meaningful for my students. I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
