Literacy Skill Building (Read 180)

Course Description: Read 180 is a course that enhances students’ literary skills.  It is beneficial for success in English I. . Students in this course will receive research-based, explicit instruction in reading skills to better enable them as fluent readers.

Instructional Philosophy:  Read 180 is a comprehensive, blended learning program designed to increase student reading abilities through adaptive technology, small group instruction and independent reading. 

Course Goals:  Through the course students will increase their ability to use various reading strategies to comprehend texts and learn how to select appropriate independent reading material. Students also increase their vocabulary and writing abilities through various assessments built into the program.
