Service Learning Syllabus

Course Description:

Service Learning is an elective program that connects meaningful service experiences with academic learning, personal growth and civic responsibility.

Course Objectives:

1- To help the student develop a better understanding of the needs and the needs of their community.

2- To create a sense of ownership in their community through community service.

3- To develop interpersonal skills, such as, cooperative learning, conflict management, time management, diversity training and communication skills.

Student Expectations:

1- to follow the GOLDEN RULE

2- to participate in all classroom and outside service activities

3- to follow all school discipline and attendance policies

Grading:

Written assignments, notebooks, class participation 20%

Outside service hours (12 per semester) 20%

Site evaluations and end of term project 60%
