About Me!

After growing up in a suburb of Chicago and earning my Bachelor's degree in Middle Level Education from Illinois State University, I headed south for warmer weather.

I taught ELA to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in Columbia for four years before getting married and moving to Georgia. I spent two years in an elementary school teaching reading, writing, social studies, and math assistance to 5th graders. I also earned my Master's degree in Elementary Education from Piedmont College while in Georgia.

Moving back to South Carolina, I had the opportunity to be back in the middle school teaching English, public speaking, and drama at Fisher Middle School for the last five years. My journey there came to an end because someone finally decided to 'promote' me on to the seventh grade. đŸ˜‰

Although I enjoyed the experience of teaching elementary school, the middle level is definitely where I belong. Kids are at this awkward crossroad in life where they're stuck between being a kid and a teenager, and that presents many challenges. I strive to be a positive and welcoming role model for my students so they always know they have someone who loves them to help them through this weird stage of life.

When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and our neighborhood crew. My husband and I have two kids (Cameron is four and Zoe is two), and four furbabies (three cats and a dog).

I am excited to be a gator!
