Course Title: Math 6 Inclusion

COURSE DESCRIPTION

During the school year within each inclusion class, I will be actively engaged in addressing the academic, behavioral, social and transition goals that are specified in each child's Individual Education Plans (IEP). The staff will address all deficits to propel each student toward successful completion of the middle school course of study, and facilitate preparation for the appropriate high school diploma program (state, occupational, or certificate). This will be accomplished by using South Carolina curriculum standards. I will be working very closely with the regular education instructors to assist them in addressing the academic, behavioral, and social needs of my students and to ensure the implementation of IEP accommodations. Each student will receive interim and quarterly IEP updates which will be sent home every 9 weeks. Instruction will be based on the Greenville County Schools curriculum guide and the South Carolina Curriculum Standards.

Teaching Approach

We use a differentiated teaching approach in order to address each student at his or her instructional level.

Just as everyone has a unique fingerprint, each student has an individual style of learning. Not all students in a

classroom learn a subject in the same way or share the same level of ability. Differentiated instruction is a method of

designing and delivering instruction to best reach each student. Differentiating instruction may mean teaching the same

material to all students using a variety of instructional strategies, or it may require the teacher to deliver lessons at

varying levels of difficulty based on the ability of each student. Our ultimate goal is for each student to become

independent learners, and to learn to become responsible and accountable for their education.

Instruction will be based on :

Whole class instruction

Small group instruction

Individual instruction
