About Me

Education

Hello! My name is Amy Eckhardt, and I teach ESOL, Co-taught Algebra 1, Co-taught Integrated Sciences, and Co-taught Biology  at Wade Hampton High School.

I was born in Seoul, South Korea and grew up in Pennsylvania with my two brothers and sister. I have one son.  I graduated from Penn State University with a BA in Political Science and then taught English in Zilina, Slovakia with the Peace Corps. I returned to the US and went to graduate school for Linguistics and later Law at the University of Pittsburgh. I later taught English as a Second Language and other topics at the University of Pittsburgh.

I love learning new languages and cultures.  I have lived or studied abroad in Australia, China, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Mongolia, Peru, Slovakia, and South Africa.  I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, watching college sports (football, women's basketball and volleyball), gardening, traveling, cooking, and of course eating food from all over the world.
