HOMEWORK POLICY

Homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school. We feel that parents are the keys to making homework a positive experience for their children. We ask that parents make homework a top priority by providing necessary supplies, a quiet homework environment, and setting a daily homework time. Although guidance in homework and school assignments is still imperative, you need to give your 5th grader some independence and responsibility. This will increase their self-esteem and prepare them for middle school. We expect students to do their best job on their homework. Students who do not turn in homework will have a working lunch to complete the assignment.

DAILY PLANNERS

We firmly believe that the planner is a valuable tool for communication between school and home. The planner, when maintained accurately, can be the key to success for many students. Thus, one of our goals for this year is to stress the importance of daily organization. We will take time each day in each class for your child to write down assignments, upcoming events, tests, etc. Your child will have an accountability partner who will initial the box for each subject daily in the planner. Please check your child’s planner each night to reinforce the importance of homework and organization.

BREAKFAST/LUNCH

Breakfast is free for all students this year, and lunch costs $2.50 daily ($12.50 weekly). If you plan to have school lunch with your child, please send a note so that the lunchroom can prepare accordingly. Adult lunches are $3.85. Children who owe a balance will not be allowed to eat a hot lunch. They will be provided a sandwich and milk bag lunch..
