About Ms. Rogers

Welcome! My name is Joy Rogers, I have been teaching at Brushy Creek Elementary for seventeen years! I taught 4K for nine years, first grade for one year, and 5K for six years. I am very excited and looking forward to the challenge of teaching 3rd grade for the first time this year! I am a 2002 graduate of Erskine College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a 2015 graduate of Southern Wesleyan University with a Masters in Classroom Leadership. When I am not at school I love spending time with my family and friends. One of my favorite things to do is watch football. My favorite teams are the Cameron Dragons, the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers!

Ms. Rogers’ Educational Philosophy

My mission as a third grade teacher is to motivate, inspire, encourage, and support students by providing a safe, secure, and loving environment to educate them socially, emotionally, and cognitively so they can continue to build a foundation for life-long learning.

My Beliefs:

I recognize parents as the primary educators and believe that good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success.

I believe students learn best through hands-on activities and in a safe environment that promotes learning.

Teachers should provide opportunities for students with and without disabilities to grow and develop physical, socially, emotionally, and cognitively together.

I believe learning should be meaningful and should build connections to prior knowledge or experiences.

I believe children learn differently, but all children are able to learn.
