Ms. Hassan's ELA Website
Hello! My name is Allia, and I am delighted to be an ELA teacher at Ralph Chandler Middle School!
You can contact me one of three ways:
School phone (8 a.m.-4 p.m.): 864-452-0359. This rings in my classroom and goes straight to voicemail during class.
E-mail: ahassan@greenville.k12.sc.us
Students who need to speak with me face to face can swing by my classroom (702) Tuesday through Thursday from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. Please make an appointment! I also have a sign up sheet on my door! Email or a private comment via Google Classroom are some ways to reach me quickly if you've missed me in the classroom.

My classes are a mix of English writing (yay, express yourself!), research (life skill!) and reading from a variety of nonfiction and literary texts. But what we read will be less important than how we read it. Classes will cover classics such as The Outsiders (ELA Studies) and To Kill a Mockingbird (English 1 Honors) modern books, short stories, history/science/current events texts and the occasional poem. You'll also have ample opportunity to pick your own stuff to read.

Students, this is what we are looking for from you:
HONESTY: Work, think, and behave in the best way you know how.
INQUIRY: Complete all assignments, and ask questions in class if you do not understand something.
RESPECT: Do not waste class time; you are responsible for your own behavior and the consequences of that behavior.
Students, in turn, can expect the following from me:
COMMITMENT: I will always teach in the best way I know how, and I will do whatever it takes to teach you.
ACCESS: I will always make myself available to speak with students and/or parents to address any concerns.
SECURITY: I will always protect the safety and rights of every individual in my classroom.
We love ALL our students. If anyone disrupts class or is disrespectful, we follow a specific set of steps to address it.
