Developmental Norms

Here are a few developmental norms for when certain sounds should be acquired, when certain phonological processes should be eliminated, and when certain language skills should be seen during a student's development. Please note that the developmental norms for speech sounds in children are what Greenville County Schools utilize to determine potential academic impact. The other developmental norms noted are directly from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) website.
