ABOUT ME

Welcome to my website. Below you will find information by which you can contact me. I will return both emails and phone calls promptly..

I have lived in Greenville for 29 years. I have 4 children who all attended public school. I am a great supporter of the public school system and believe that if students, parents and teachers work together it can be a meaningful, successful experience. I welcome questions and believe there is no such thing as a dumb question. If one chooses to question, then he chooses to learn something new.

My favorite saying is "Don't tell me what you don't know, tell what you do know so we can start from there." Everyone knows something!!!!!!

My home is in South Carolina with my children but my roots are firmly planted in Michigan. I grew up in the city of Battle Creek. Yes, that is where Tony the Tiger lives and my father was a graphic artist who free lanced for many of the food and cereal giants of the time. He designed several of the characters that even today still reside on the cereal boxes. I graduated from Harper Creek High School in 1978.  I then attended my favorite university in the world,  Michigan State University (GO SPARTANS!!!) and graduated with a bachelors degree in Microbiology with a minor in chemistry and animal science. I have been  fortunate enough to earn my masters degree and to add on an endorsement in Teaching ELL. I spent the last 1.5 years working on a Commission of Higher Education grant facilitated through Clemson.  I had the pleasure of traveling to several counties and high schools where I collaborated with many talented teachers and did model lessons.

I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year at Greer  School High School.  I have traveled extensively and have lived for a short time in a lovely town in Switzerland named Lausanne. Living overseas was an enlightening experience and allowed me to see places I had only dreamed of while experiencing first hand the struggle of being in a country where I did not have a mastery of the language.  This experience developed a specific empathy for my students plus a knowledge of how important it is to master the first language of the culture in which you live.   I have become a University of South Carolina fan because my older sons both attended that fine institute of learning.  Go Cocks!!!!  My oldest son works and lives in Columbia, South Carolina.  He is married and has a beautiful daughter (who happens to be my 7th grandchild) He is  a very devoted Gamecocks fan.  My second son graduated from the medical school at MUSC in Charleston. and returned to MUSC  with his wife after completing his residency at UVA.  They have moved to Tampa, Florida where he works as a Pediatric Cardiologist at John Hopkins Childrens Hospital.  They have blessed me with my two beautiful granddaughters.  My third son graduated from Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina. spent three years the director of youth ministry for the Diocese of Juneau Alaska.  He and his wife have moved to Dallas, Texas. where he is serving as an Assistant Director for youth ministry for the Diocese of Dallas. They have blessed me with my four  wonderful grandsons .   My daughter is a graduate of  Belmont Abbey College and is living in Wilmingto, NC  working in her field as a BCBA. All four are married and pursuing careers that help others.  I am incredibly proud of all of them.

I am an avid MSU basketball fan and March Madness is a fun time.  I also love to watch soccer.  All of my children played through high school and my daughter played for four years in College.
