Ms. Mitchell's English class
Hello! My name is Anna Mitchell, and I am delighted to be an ELA teacher at Ralph Chandler Middle School!
You can contact me one of three ways:
School phone (8 a.m.-4 p.m.): 864-452-0324. This rings in my classroom and goes straight to voicemail during class.
Text message: 864-982-1735. You can leave a voice mail or text message, but text messages are a little easier to manage.
E-mail: abmitchell@greenville.k12.sc.us. The old standby!
Students who need to speak with me face to face can swing by my classroom (702) Tuesday through Thursday from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. Please make an appointment! I also have a sign up sheet on my door! Email or a private comment via Google Classroom are some ways to reach me quickly if you've missed me in the classroom.
Mitchell's Master Schedule

My classes are a mix of English writing (yay, express yourself!), research (life skill!) and reading from a variety of nonfiction and literary texts. But what we read will be less important than how we read it. Classes will cover classics such as The Outsiders and The Watsons Go to Birmingham but also modern books, short stories, history/science/current events texts and the occasional poem. You'll also have ample opportunity to pick your own stuff to read.
This year (2023-24), I will be teaching 8th graders (English Studies) and 7th graders (English Studies). If you want to see a syllabus for your class with me, go to the pages for 8th grade ELA or 7th grade ELA.
Links to the calendars for each class are below. On this page (also below) I've included our classroom expectations and our classroom supply list (note some slight differences between 7th and 8th grade).
Want to know more about me? I've got a page for that, too.
See you all Aug. 8! Go Panthers!
Students, this is what we are looking for from you:
HONESTY: Work, think, and behave in the best way you know how.
INQUIRY: Complete all assignments, and ask questions in class if you do not understand something.
RESPECT: Do not waste class time; you are responsible for your own behavior and the consequences of that behavior.
Students, in turn, can expect the following from me:
COMMITMENT: I will always teach in the best way I know how, and I will do whatever it takes to teach you.
ACCESS: I will always make myself available to speak with students and/or parents to address any concerns.
SECURITY: I will always protect the safety and rights of every individual in my classroom.
We love ALL our students. If anyone disrupts class or is disrespectful, we follow a specific set of steps to address it.
