Monthly Reading Log

This year, your child will be expected to read every night. I have attached an example of what a week of reading might look like for your child. The Reading Log is to be kept in the back cover of their Take Home Folder. This is so it can be easily checked each morning.

In the each box of the calendar you will see the date already filled in for you. Please make sure your child writes the number of minutes they read in the little box in the upper right corner, the title of their book in the bigger box (i.e. Dog Man), and that you SIGN YOUR INITIALS under the title. At the end of the week, your child should add up the total number of minutes read and mark it in the blank.

Please, understand that there is no penalty for an incomplete reading log, however, if they complete their monthly goal, they will earn a extra class dojo points.

It is imperative that your child builds the good reading habits and the reading stamina needed for the SC Ready test at the end of the year.

Students will receive a list of spelling words each week. Every Monday, they will be tested on their words from the previous week and receive new words for that week.
