About Me
My name is Katherine Varghese and I will be your child’s Spanish teacher. I was born in Venezuela and Spanish was my first language. I moved to the United States when I was 7 and have lived here for more than 30 years. I currently have a B.A. in Arts from Clemson University with a concentration in Spanish, a Master’s in Education from Southern Wesleyan University, & an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson. In addition I am a National Board Certified Teacher, a distinction held by less than 3% of teachers nationwide. Being born outside the U.S., I fully understand the difficulty involved in learning a second language but I also realize the importance of being bilingual in our ever-changing world. My objective is to equip your child with the coveted advantage of knowing a second language.
When I'm not working I love to spend time with my family. I'm married and have two energetic children, ages 10 and 12, that keep me on my toes. I love traveling, trying different foods, and watching movies.
