What does a third grader need to know? This guide shares important information about the South Carolina Academic Standards. These standards outline state requirements for your child’s learning program and what students across the state should be able to do in certain subjects.

Grading

Please use the Parent Portal to check your child's grades. If you cannot access the portal, you must come by the front office of the school. There is also a PowerSchool App for your mobile device so that you can receive notifications and stay up to date with grades from any location.

District Grading Policies- A: 90-100 B: 80-89 C: 70-79 D: 60-69 U: 59 or lower

District Guidelines for Grading-

Reading: Major grades 40% (theme tests)/Minor grades 60% (daily work, quizzes)

Language Arts: Major grades 30% (theme tests)/Minor grades 60% (daily work, quizzes)/Spelling 10%

Math: Major grades 40% (tests)/Minor grades 60% (daily work, quizzes)

Social Studies: Major grades 40% (tests, projects)/Minor grades 60% (daily work, quizzes)

Science/Health: Major grades 40% (tests, projects)/Minor grades 60% (daily work, quizzes)

Makeup work- When absent please try to makeup work as soon as possible. The district states that all missed work must be completed within 5 days of the return of an absence.
