About Me

I am really excited about my eighteenth year of teaching! This is my seventh year teaching 3rd grade at Simpsonville Elementary. Previously, I have taught first and second grades at another school in Greenville County.

Now onto some fun facts about me! In 2012, I got married to my husband, Timothy Smith.  In 2015, we had a baby boy named Jonathan Cruz Smith. We call him Cruz. He is so much fun!!! He loves people, songs, and trains. He is a third grader at Simpsonville this school year. In April of 2022, we added to our family. Our identical twin girls, Liliana and Elena, were born! We are excited to learn how to be a family of 5.

I have plenty of hobbies that I enjoy.  I love to read books.  I also love making photobooks online. My husband and I make farmhouse decor and signs to sell.  I don't really like to watch sports unless I know someone who is playing. Yes, that means I am neither a Carolina nor a Clemson fan.  I don't have one favorite color. But I love gray, red, pink, lilac, and black. I LOVE peanut butter and chocolate. I have to have coffee 2-3 times a day!  I am very organized and like a clean house and classroom. Want to know something really cool?  My dad is the Artist in Residence at Simpsonville Elementary. He does pencil drawings of famous people, actors, and comic book characters. He goes to many Comicons around the south to display and sell his art. I cosplay as Wonder Woman to help him out. It's so much fun when kids think I am really her!

I graduated from Southern Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education in 2006. Before that, I graduated from Hillcrest High School (Go RAMS!). I went to Morton Elementary when I was in second grade. Morton is now Simpsonville Elementary School. I am so happy to be home!

I know third grade is going to be the BEST grade EVER! They are fun and so lovable. I truly believe that any child can succeed if they put their mind to it and if they receive the encouragement and support they need from their family and teacher.
