All About Me

Hello! My name is Kate Leonard and my family and I moved to Greenville from Northern Michigan in 2018.  I grew up in suburban Detroit and lived all over the state before moving south.  I attended Central Michigan University where my first degree was in Land Use Planning and Environmental Analysis.  After working in that field for a few years I returned to CMU to complete my teaching degree.  I also have a Master's degree in Reading & Literacy from Marygrove College. This will be my 18th year teaching and my first at Buena Vista.  I have experience teaching first through sixth grade as well as working as the Title One Reading Specialist and Reading Interventionist.  I am super excited to be a Buena Vista Bobcat!

My husband, Jason, and I met at CMU in our college years. Mr. Leonard is a middle school PE teacher.  We have three amazing kiddos Aden (20), Baron (17), and Evelyn (11). We also have a goofy Bernedoodle named Elway and also Havana our mini Yorkie! Football is king in our family as my husband has coached for the last 25 years so, our kids have practically grown up on the football field. We enjoy attending college football games, spending time at the beach, and family game nights.  I love watching my kids participate in sports. I also love to crochet and read in my spare time. A few of my favorite authors are Kate DiCamillo, Mo Willems, and Beverly Cleary.
