About Mrs. Koubrina

My name is Maria Koubrina. I am very excited to be a part of our team at Berea Middle School. I am thrilled to be your child's 6th grade science teacher and looking forward to helping each student advance to the next level. 

I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia.  I graduated from State University - Higher School of Economics with bachelor's and master's degrees in Legal Studies in 2003. The same year I moved to the United States. I discovered my passion for teaching in South Carolina and graduated from Anderson University with a master's in Elementary Education (MAT).  I have taught 4th,5th, and now 6th grade.  

I am Middle School certified. 

I have been happily married for 20 years to my husband, who was born  in North Carolina.  We have a 16 year old son, who is starting his sophomore year of Highschool.  We have two beautiful Russian Blue cats and  one dog. 

Fun facts about Mrs. Koubrina:

• I don't like snow 

• If I could, I would adopt many cats and dogs, but I don't think my family would let me

• Love horses! Used to ride all the time

• Don't know how people used to live without Starbucks 

• My family and I love to travel inside and outside the country

• My favorite color is navy blue

• In my spare time I love drawing, hiking, and watching movies
