Classroom Rules and Expectations

Homework Policy:

Homework will be given out on Monday and turned in on Friday each week. Students will receive a check for fully completed homework for the week. Those students who receive a check for completing homework will get to choose a homework stick as a reward. Rewards include things such as a trip to the prize box, sitting in the teacher’s chair for a day, and using a buzzer to answer a question rather than raising their hand.

Make-Up Work Policy:

Provision for make-up of schoolwork missed during excused absences will be worked out with the teacher at the earliest time and should not exceed 5 school days after student returns to school.

Attendance and Tardy Policy (see Student Handbook):

The school year consists of 180 school days. To receive credit, a student must attend at least 85 of each 90-day semester courses as well as meet all minimum requirements for each course. Accrued student absences, either lawful or a combination thereof, may not exceed 10 days of the school year. Parents should submit a written excuse within 3 days following each absence. A student is counted tardy if he/she is not in the classroom by 8:00.

Rules and Procedures:

The first two weeks of school is utilized to present and practice classroom and school-wide rules and procedures. Rules will be revisited as needed throughout the year.

Individual Behavior Contracts:

Individual behavior contracts will be developed collaboratively based on students’ needs.
