Welcome to FIHS science! Together, we will learn about a vast array of science topics as well as address several phenomena along the way! Use the navigation at the top right to take you to important schedules, documents, and resources that we will use this semester.

Mrs. Cotney has been teaching science for almost 17 years. She taught Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, AVID, Biology, Physical Science, and Current Issues at Laurens District 55 High School and Newberry High School. The past 3 years she was an Instructional Coach in Laurens 56. Mrs. Cotney is excited about teaching science this year at Fountain Inn High! Go Fury!

Mrs. Cotney is married to Coach Cotney who is a Student Success Coach and Wide Receivers Coach at Hillcrest High. They have a daughter, Eliza, who is in 4th grade this school year. Mrs. Cotney loves to learn and read.

Mrs. Cotney received her undergraduate degree in Production Studies in Performing Arts (vocal studies) with a minor in Biological Sciences at Clemson University. She then went on to obtain a Master's in Agricultural Education from CU. In 2017, she completed her studies and received her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.

What to expect from Mrs. Cotney:

Lesson plans with an overview of student activities & weekly assignments posted Monday by 8 am.
Copies of individual assignments posted throughout the week in Google Classroom, unless it is a hands on activity, project or lab that requires classroom materials.
Links to course support materials and apps may be found in your student's Google Classroom.
Emails or phone calls will be returned within 24 hours on M-F, except on weekends.
Extra Help Hours are by request from 7:45 am - 8:30 am and require submission of an email to request tutoring Mrs. Cotney. Please allow 24 hours to schedule tutoring sessions. Mrs. Cotney will email the student a calendar request when she receives the email.
