Materials required EVERYDAY (yes, even when we are on eLearning)

· 3-ring binder with college-ruled paper/dividers

· Blue or black pens, #2 pencils

· Post-it notes

· Highlighter

· Headphones

· Wireless mouse

COVID-19 Safety Requirements:

· Students are required to wait in the hallways before entering the room each class period. This provides time for proper disinfecting procedures.

· Students MUST have their masks on at all times when they are not socially distanced (in the halls, cafeteria, and common areas, and when traveling about the classroom).

· Masks MUST be worn properly (over the nose and mouth, fitted behind the ears or head, covering from the bridge of the nose to the chin).

· Materials will not be shared in class this year. Students MUST bring all of their own supplies every day, as they will not be permitted to share with classmates or borrow communal supplies due to risk of contamination. Students who come to school without their own supplies may be unable to complete their tasks in class and lose credit.

Attendance:

  • Students are EXPECTED to attend class each day. This includes both face-to-face instruction and eLearning days. Attendance is expected on eLearning days through attendance at live Google Meet times, logging into EACH class’s Google Classroom and completing work, communicating with the teacher, etc. It is especially important that the attendance question posted each day be completed THAT DAY by 11:59pm or you will be ABSENT.

  • Missed tests or assessments are to be completed by appointment. Arrangements must be made within 5 days of the missed class.

Grading:

· Mrs. Boland follows the GCSD Grading Policy

o Homework/Quizzes 40% of final grade

o Tests/projects 60% of final grade

· Late Grades

o Refer to Eastside High School late work policy. Late work will only be accepted within 5 days of the original due date. Minor grades will earn no more than a 50% if they are late at all. Major grades will be deducted 10 points a day until day 5, after which they will not be accepted at all.

· Testing

o It is the responsibility of the student to request and set up a time with the teacher to take a re-test, if the student scored below a 70%. It must be completed within one week for a maximum grade of a 70%.

o Retakes are not offered for basic quizzes.

· Online Grading System

o EHS implements the PowerSchool program for attendance, grading, etc. Parents and students can access this information through the parent and student portals on the school website, as well as their Backpack.

o Minor grades and tests will be available within 10 days of due date. Due to the importance of providing individual feedback for major projects and papers, Mrs. Boland will have these available once grading is complete.

Extra Help/Tutoring

· Extra help is available to students when needed, although the situation with COVID-19 has made it more important than ever that students who are struggling take responsibility and take the initiative to reach out to their teachers when they need help. In the case of 100% eLearning days, the teacher will be available all throughout the school day via email and even Google Meet/phone if arranged via email. When we are on the hybrid schedule, I will have 3rd period designated as office hours and be fully available to answer questions and help eLearning students.

Bathroom Policy

· Students should plan bathroom breaks according to their schedule. Only 1 student will be permitted to leave the room at a time for emergency bathroom breaks.

My Google Site

· I maintain a Google Site and a Google Classroom site, which all of the students and parents are encouraged to refer to for all missed work, copies of instructions, resources, etc. Parents can also sign up for weekly notifications from Google Classroom.

Regards,

Mrs. Boland
