2023-24 Photos

Here are a few pictures from the first week of the 2023-24 school year!

We are off to a great start! We did a lot of team building activities including building a mystery structure with blocks and they even built towers with red solo cups without touching them.

First Quarter: Synergizing with our classmates to stack cups and build the tallest towers.

Boeing
Dreamlearner Day

The kids got to "chat" with an engineer from Boeing and learn about how they build the planes and flight. They got to ask questions and then make their own paper airplanes. Congrats to Esrah for flying her paper plane the farthest!

First Quarter Pictures:
A Shmorgasborg of random pictures from Quarter 1, including an assembly, acting out how molecules behave in different states of matter, measurin the distance between the twin towers on 9-11, and  finally working  out some math problems.  It's been a good semester !

We dissected owl pellets in science! Some kids were totally wigged out by them but most of them had a blast!!

RED RIBBON WEEK!

This week we dressed up to celebrate living drug free and making good choices!

Roper Mountain Science Center (November 2023)

The kids had a great time experimenting with mixing different substances and enjoying at show at the planetarium!

Veteran's Day Program

Our very own Kaydence spoke and led the ceremony. We cheered for veterans in the parade and heard stories and songs about our beloved country, America!

First week of November 2023

We had lots of visitors for career day.

In science the kids learned about mold, and decomposers. Here we are conducting one of the experiments... it was an exciting week in room 506!

December 2023

Students collected toys for the Christmas toy drive. We spread some kindness with happy messages on the sidewalk, and several kids met their math goals and go to sign the WIG Wall!

In February our kids got a special visit from author, Amanda Moody. She shared her book series "Wildermore" with the kids.

We also spread the love with a Valentine's day party!

The 100th day of school this year was also the THOUSANDTH day of school for these 5th graders and we had so much fun playing "100 seconds to win it" games to celebrate!

We wrapped up our decimals unit by going to the "Decimal Diner." These kids got some real world experience by choosing their appetizers, meals and desserts and then calculating the totals. We made sure they included a tip for their servers too. A lot of them quickly realized that eating out is more expensive than they expected!

The kids helped PTA raise over $10,000 during Boosterthon! We had a great time at the "Fun Run!"

Quarter 4 pictures...
We work hard and play hard. Here the kids are working in math groups & doing classwork. They are also having fun during our "Class Dance Party" for getting "10 in a row" on our party chart!

The kids had a great time on our field trip to Helen, Georgia.
