 LLI Fountas and Pinnell:

LLI is a research-based intervention program. This program will focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency skills, which are critical to a child's early success with reading. Within the program your child will work on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing each day.

Reading Horizons:

Reading Horizons is an explicit, systematic, research-based foundational literacy program which focuses on phonemic awareness and phonics. Multi-sensory techniques are utilized through instruction.

Daily Expectations:

Your child will meet with me each day for a 3o minute session. Each child needs to be prepared each day for our session by bringing his/her materials (book baggie, folder and books). It is important for each child to arrive "ready to learn", put forth their Monarch BEST, be engaged and attentive during our sessions.

Homework:

Your child will have a book baggie, which will contain his/her assigned book for reading homework. This book will be a "familiar" read, a book we have read in class. Your child will read the assigned book at home and may count this time towards classroom reading expectations. Encourage your child to read the book more than one time to practice fluency and develop comprehension of the  text. I encourage parents to listen to your child read the assigned book at least one time and to ask your child questions about the book.
