Dear 4K Families,                                                                           

We are very excited to have your child in our classroom this year. There are so many wonderful things to learn in 4K. We are firm believers that the home is a child’s first school. We look forward to working with you to make your child have a successful year.

We believe that every child can learn, and realize that each child is an individual and will understand concepts at different times. There will be different levels of learning taking place at the same time in our classroom. Please be aware of this and be supportive of the children’s successes no matter what level of learning they have attained. We look forward to a wonderful and successful year working with you and your child.

Supplies: Please send a change of clothes to stay in your child’s cubby and a towel for Quiet Time. Towels will be sent home each Friday to be washed. It would also be helpful for you to send headphones for your child.

Snack: We eat lunch very early, so we will have a snack time each afternoon. We are asking each child to bring snack once each month for the class. A calendar will be sent home with the schedule. Please send snacks that are individually packaged. Some ideas – small bags of goldfish, teddy grahams, fruit snacks, yogurts, etc. Thank you for supporting our class. We really appreciate it.

Classroom Management Plan:  We have a clip chart for our behavior. Each student starts the day on Green – ready to learn. They will move their clips up or down, depending on their behavior. At the end of the day, students will color in a calendar in the back of their Daily folder.

Red = Outstanding

Orange = Great Job                                                   

 Yellow= Good Day 

Green= Ready to Learn

Blue = Think About It 

Purple= Teacher’s Choice (for consequence)

Pink = contact parents

Daily folders: Folders will be sent home each day. Please check them for any information and check the back for the behavior chart. Return the folder to school each day.

Communication:   We will use the school email system, Talking Points program for texts, and our website.

Emails and texts will be checked and responded to between 7:15- 7:40 am and 2:30 -3:00 pm on school days.
