About Me

All About Me …..

Hello ! My name is Donna Jackson and I have been working with special education children most of my adult life. I was first employed by the Greenville County School District 43 years ago. I began my teaching career at J.L. Mann High School after receiving by Bachelors Degree in Deaf Education from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I earned a Master’s Degree from Furman University in Learning Disabilities in 1983. I grew up with a deaf sister who was my “first teacher’ in deaf education. I have since taught deaf students at J.L. Mann Academy, Sara Collins Elementary and have worked in special education at Beck for fifteen years. Once again I am returning to J.L. Mann part-time. I serve as a DHH itinerant teacher in the AM with other students throughout our district.

I was married to Kenneth Robert Jackson for 14 years. We have two daughters, Latoya who is 39, is a chef and our youngest Kimberly who is 35 and is a Graduate of USC Upstate. She majored in Mass Communication - Theater. I have two precious granddaughters and a grandson, Joshua Gavin. He is ALL BOY and wild as a buck, a bundle of joy! My eldest granddaughter is Tia and she is 18 and my youngest granddaughter is Alexis, and she is 16. The newest addition to our family is my great grand daughter Indie - Rose. She is a joy and a delight and brings so much laughter to our home!

Our family enjoys traveling, swimming, dancing, plays and watching Netflix series. Most of our time is spent spoiling the grandchildren and catching the latest movies. I am proud to be a teacher and strive each day to make a difference in the lives of our children, our most valuable resource now and in the future. I look forward to working with you and your child this year !

I am truly blessed to have fantastic staff members that give great support to our students. Mrs. Spiller will serve our students as transliterators/facilitators. Ms. Cindy Fullerton is joining us this year as a sign language interpreter. We welcom Mrs. Michelle Butler to JL Mann as our new Lead interpreter for the district. These ladies have a wealth of knowledge and experience. They will provide assistance by facilitating communication and transliterating for students in the mainstream.
