I feel it is important to reward good behavior as it is to discipline disruptive behavior. Students who behave appropriately will be rewarded with positive notes home, praise, free time, games and special activities.
Consequences for Violating Class and School Rules/Policies:
1. Individual plan – A child who breaks a school rule will adhere to our classroom consequences.
2. Whole class plan – Children may have assigned seats at lunch, silent lunch or time off recess.
Procedures for Non-Instructional Routines:
These are explained and established at the beginning of the year. These may be adapted as necessary to accommodate circumstances.
Presentation of rules and procedures are posted on the wall in the room and presented orally the first week of school. They are also explained in Parent/Student Handbook.
Behavior Contract - If one is necessary, it will be formulated in cooperation with the resource teacher, guidance counselor, classroom teacher, parent, and student.
Reward System – Small rewards will be given daily and/or weekly.
Communication with parents – Communication is maintained through newsletters, student planners, school and teacher web-sites, Seal-o-grams, phone calls, conferences, flyers, and individual class notes.
