About Me

Welcome to Mrs. Agnew’s Classroom!

I am so happy to have your child in my classroom this year!  Our school year is going to be filled with fun activities, making new friends, tons of learning opportunities, and many exciting new experiences.

A little bit about me:

My name is Catherine Agnew and I LOVE to teach!  This will be my 11th year teaching here at the Oakview Elementary School.  I previously taught preschool special education in Athens, Georgia for two years.  I graduated in May 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education.  In May 2012 I received a master’s degree in Special Education Adaptive Curriculum, with a concentration in Classic Autism, from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.  I love sports, especially Georgia football, Braves baseball, golf, animals, cooking, and baking.  This summer my husband, Preston, and I celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary.  We have a 22 month old little boy, Andrew, and he is our greatest blessing! We are expecting a precious little girl this September!! We can’t wait to watch Andrew as a big brother!  We have three dogs, a Yorkie named Bailey, a terrier mix named Georgia, and a Dalmatian named Dotty.  Andrew runs everywhere so he definitely keeps us busy and on our toes all the time!  We love spending time with our little boy, cooking and baking together, taking the dogs for walks, golfing, and just spending time together!  I believe that all children can learn and I work my hardest to make sure they reach their highest potential.  I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with such amazing children!

About our class:

Our classroom will operate with two primary intentions: first, our curriculum and second, your child’s distinct needs as outlined in his or her Individualized Education Plan (IEP).  I will collaborate with our general education teachers for planning and during the times when our students are mainstreamed out in the general education classroom.  I then individualize my instruction according to each of my student’s specific strengths and needs based on their IEP objectives.  Each student will also receive one on one, small group, and whole group instruction to explicitly target goals and to collect data that will show student progress towards reaching long term objectives.  Every Sunday we will send out Monday Memos with information about what we are doing in our class and important dates to save.  Our Monday Memos will be emailed out and posted on my website.

A little bit about our Teaching Assistants:

This is Candace Shealy’s 5th year working at Oakview Elementary but her 10th year working at Greenville County Schools.  She previously worked at Buena Vista Elementary and Bryson Elementary.  Candace and Blair have a 5 ½ year-old little boy named Mason who will be attending Oakview this year.  They have two precious dogs they rescued, one is a beagle named Bruno and the other is a mixed breed named Remi.  Candace loves to cook and bake in her spare time!  She also enjoys spending time with her family!

This is Erin Khuth's first year working at Oakview Elementary but her second year working at Greenville County Schools. She previously worked at Rudolph Gordon in the FANS department. Erin and her family moved her last year from Connecticut. Erin has two kids, a daughter named Valentina who is in 7th grade at Mauldin Middle and a son named Sonny who will be in 3rd grade at Oakview. In her spare time she loves spending time with her family, cooking, and home decorating.
