Welcome to 7th grade World Geography

Welcome to Mrs. Pile's Website!

Here is a little bit about this class: Seventh grade students will study Earth from a regional perspective, focusing on the continents. Students will study contemporary places and regions to identify how the experiences of people are rooted in places and organized into geographic regions. This course focuses on human systems and the sum of human activities and characteristics across the Earth's surface. Instruction should utilize the geographic thinking skills and themes developed in the 2019 South Carolina Social Studies College and Career Ready Standards. These standards are aligned with the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate in order to promote world-class skills and knowledge. Instruction should include inquiry-based learning in which students apply geography literacy and skills to current world issues.

So... what does that even mean?

Basically, students will study physical landscapes all over the world and learn to be excellent at reading maps. This class includes lots of awesome, hands-on activities, say goodbye to worksheets and unit tests, we will be focusing on project based learning. Everyday, we will discuss how people affect the places where they live, and how places affect those same people. You will learn about ALL 7 continents, not just North America. My favorite part about this course is not only will students be discussing real world issues, students will create solutions to those real world problems.
