Expectations
Daily Expectations:
Come to class on time every day, find your desk, review today’s agenda, and begin working on the warm-up.
Be on time to class, ready to learn! This means in your seat, with your binder out. Make sure your pencil is sharpened and you have lined paper.
Wear your ID at all times and adhere to the dress code. Violators will be referred to administration.
No food or drink should be consumed outside of the cafeteria. Water may be brought into the classrooms in a transparent, sealed bottle.
Be an active part of class - that includes participating in discussion and being a vital member in group assignments. Always stay engaged and stay on task.
Treat your teacher, your classmates, property, and yourself with respect; no physical, verbal, or emotional abuse; no threatening or yelling.
Be open to new ideas! We will have an open environment that welcomes each and every opinion and values each and every student’s inherent worth.
Tardies:
If you are late to class, please enter quietly and walk to your desk without interrupting anyone else. Leave your note on your desk and I will come by to talk with you.
Leaving class to go to the bathroom, water fountain, or your locker counts as a time-out of class. Those are things you should do between classes.
After your 4th and 5th tardies, you will have one hour of after-school detention and your parent will be informed.
After your 6th tardy, I will refer you to our Principal.
Cell Phone Use
Students are only allowed to use their cell phones for educational purposes when the Cellpohone sign on my board is green. Students are not to use their phones for social media, sending or receiving text messages (even to parents), or calling during class. If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call the front office at 864-355- 0100.
Absences:
If you must be absent from class, make arrangements ahead of time to make up a test, quiz, or assignment that you will miss during that class day. You have 5 school-days to make up missed work. You must bring in an excuse slip from the office after being absent from class, and show to every teacher. Always check Google Classroom for assignments.
Grading:
Major assignments will count for 60 percent of your quarterly grade. These include tests and multi-day projects. Minor assignments will count for 40 percent of your quarterly grade; these include homework, quizzes, and in-class assignments. The final exam will count for 10 percent of your final grade.
Late Work Policy:
I expect all assignments to be completed. I can not grade what you know if your work is not turned in.
No points will be deducted from homework assignments that are late. However, students must turn in homework assignments by the posted cut-off dates to receive a grade.
