About the Teacher
My name is Willie Lipsey. I am a native of South Carolina and have lived here all of my life. I have lived around the Greenville area for about 20 years and love its relative location to the coast and the mountains.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in History and a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Middle Grades Education, both from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
I am a total history nerd and I am always looking for new historical documentaries to watch, historical places to visit, and reading books or articles about various historical subjects. My favorite eras of history are the Roman Empire, World War II, and the American Revolution. A trip to Rome, Italy is at the top of my bucket list!
My Hobbies
When I have free time, I enjoy being outdoors, fishing, hunting, woodworking and other forms of art, and listening to and playing music! Music is probably my biggest interest and I can talk about music as long as someone will listen! I also enjoy taking trips to historical places. I also enjoy reading when I can find the time and my favorite author is Edgar Allan Poe. I also love Halloween, horror movies, and horror related things!
My Philosophy on Learning
My philosophy on learning is that it is a life-long journey! I learn new things every day and I am always looking to learn more, whether that be history related or new ways to improve upon education in the classroom. In this class, I urge you to keep an open mind and respect the thoughts and ideas of each other, as we are all individuals and come from all sorts of backgrounds and cultures! I look forward to not only teaching you all, but also learning from you all as we travel across the world and learn what makes each place and its people unique! This is going to be a great year!
