Expectations

Classroom Expectations:

The goal of expectations is to re-enforce orderly patterns of behavior to help students be successful citizens.

Students are expected to...

    • Be Respectful
    • Be Prepared
    • Be on Time

Here are some of the specific procedures for class.

    1. Wait in the hallway at the beginning of class until Mr. Kammer tells you it’s time to come in.
    2. Exit Mr. Kammer’s room when Mr. Kammer dismisses the class.
    3. Raise your hand to ask or answer a question.
    4. Listen and wait when someone else is talking. You will get a chance to speak.
    5. Listen and follow directions the first time they are given.
    6. Always clean up your area. (desks straight, no trash, materials away…)
    7. Follow all GCSD rules and NMS dress code.

Consequences for Violating Expectations:

There is a Discipline Matrix on pages 10 -12 of your student's agenda that we use as a guide for student behavior. There are 3 levels of behavior that receive consequences. The below steps are for level 1. Levels 2 and 3 consequences can be found in the NMS agenda. (Please note these will be covered with all students during the first few days of school.)

If a student chooses to break rules, the following consequences will be imposed:

      1. Warning - speak with student (First Nine Weeks Only)
      2. Warn Student and Parent Contact (Letter, Phone Call, or E-Mail)
      3. Lunch Detention
      4. Referral to Administrator and every time after 4 violations.

Other Classroom Procedures:

· Beginning of Class: When the tardy bell rings, students are expected to be in their assigned seat with their ISN and working on their Bellringer.

· Nurse, Bathroom, Etc.: Students are expected to take care of the bathroom during the four minute class change. However, if a student has to leave, the student will complete their Pass sheet that’s in their ISN, and I will sign it.

· Class Change: Students have four minutes between each class. Teachers stand at their doors during class change to monitor student behavior.

· Daily Assignments: Assignments are posted on my website under the Weekly Planner. It is the responsibility of the student to be aware of assignments and announcements. If you are unsure about an assignment, check my website and then ask me.

· ID Badges: For safety reasons ID badges must be worn by all students, faculty and staff. At the beginning of the school year, students were given a picture ID badge. If a student does not have his/her ID badge at school, the homeroom teacher will send the student to the library at which time he/she will be given a temporary ID. The student will also be assigned lunch detention.

· Drills - All safety drills will be discussed in class and expectations explained by the teacher. We take these drills very seriously and expect the student to do so as well. A referral will be written for any student talking or misbehaving during a drill.

· Follow all school dress code rules.
