Benchmark and testing Information

ELA Benchmark Information

Here are the highlights for Fall ELA benchmarking. This information can also be found in your grade level Google Classroom, along with links to the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark books and tests.

  • Kindergarten teachers will not administer Fountas and Pinnell Benchmarks in the fall. Instead, you will enter Fastbridge information (Onset Sounds, Letter Naming, Numeral Identification, and Number Sequence) by September 16.

  • Grades 1-5 will administer the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmarks, OR, if a student is reading above level M, there is an alternative comprehension assessment (linked in your google classroom) that may be used. The alternative test can be administered individually to students who will work independently, so you can administer more than one test at a time! Students reading below level M should be given the FP benchmark.

  • All Fountas and Pinnell books and recording sheets may be accessed digitally through the links provided in your grade level Google Classroom. You will just need to print out the forms so you can score them as students read.

  • You can administer the FP benchmark test in person when a student attends class, or virtually on Fridays.

  • If you have difficulty administering the benchmarks, please let Karen or Chappell know!

  • Fountas and Pinnell benchmark scores or alternative assessment scores (not Fastbridge) must be entered in the RAS by October 2. You can also access a student's score from last fall by looking in the RAS.

  • Fastbridge Grades K-2 : Here are the reading/math requirements.
