About Me

This will be my 24th year of teaching Middle Social Studies. Before joining the Middle School Virtual Program last year, I taught 6th and 7th grade Social Studies at Berea Middle School. I am thrilled to be teaching 6th grade Social Studies in the Middle School Virtual Program again this year! I will be working hard to help make it a great experience for all of my students. I have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi and a Masters degree in Education from Converse College. I love studying and teaching history and I try to get my students to appreciate history with interesting projects and activities throughout the course. I am teaching the new 6th grade Standards by using the historical inquiry process. This process utilizes 6 Historical Thinking Skills to help students learn to think more critically. I love spending time with my wife, daughter, and our dog. When I have a chance, I enjoy hiking, exploring, and fishing in the Blue Ridge Mountains!
