I'm excited to work with your pride and joy this year! I believe all kids are good kids, and can't wait to get to know yours :)

Your student will use a notebook, folder, or binder daily for social studies "Guesswork" (bell-work & vocabulary), and more. Please use this resource along with class notes (Google Slides) to study and to check on your child's work in class.

Parent Hack! Skip Google Classroom and a pre-teen that won't talk to you by using the "Backpack" - but not the real one. Those can be pretty messy and sometimes gross. Online you'll find which assignments are in each teachers' gradebook - especially helpful when Classroom and real bookbags get cluttered and confusing.

If you can't make it to Meet the Teacher in person here's a brief video explaining a little about social studies class:  It's from last year, but it's still good except I like my hair longer now while it's still there ;)

Meet the Teacher Video

Google Classroom will be organized into "Topics"  found under the "Classwork" tab.  If you're trying to figure out what's happening in social class you're welcome to start there along with your students physical notebook or binder.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if I can help :)

Parent, teacher, and student communication is essential in middle school.

If you ever see a "50" in the gradebook (or NHI) for your child please know I don't plan on it staying there! I use these as tools just to grab attention, but plan on the student completing the work so they earn an actual grade. Please let me know if I can ever point you in the right direction if you need it. My k12 email above is the easiest and fastest way to communicate.

We will have a class set of actual text books this year! Students will also have full access to a pretty great online book as well. Their access will be available through  their "Backpack" then "Educational Apps."
