Educational Expectations
Reading
During this course, students will read and analyze various genres of literature.
Writing
Using mentor texts, students will follow the writing process - brainstorming, drafting, revision and publication for mastery learning.
Speaking & Listening
Students will be actively engaged in speaking and listening to develop ideas and work collaboratively with their peers.
Classroom Expectations
During a class period, students will be expected to collaborate in groups and problem solve to grow into independent thinkers and learners. During most class days, students will be out of their seats and moving around the room to demonstrate their learning through talking and writing.
Students will need an independent reading book with them at all times and will be required to read outside of the classroom. Books will be free choice based on interest and level.
