Questions or Contributions: When you have à question, type in the chat and wait for your teacher to call on you. If you would like to contribute but it is not your turn to talk, use the chat feature in the right hand corner.
Your Turn: Wait for the teacher to call on you to unmute yourself. Only one student should contribute/talk at à time.
Stay Attentive: Pay attention to your teacher or other students who are speaking.

General Attendance Rules
You are required to attend school at least 170 of the 180 days in the school year in order to receive credit for your classes.
You can submit a parent note for illness that did not require a medical visit, a death in the family, vacation or non-medical appointments like visits to the DMV. Absence due to vacations will be entered as unexcused parent notes.
Parents may submit excuse notes electronically -- Please click on link listed above to submit a Parent Note for your student's absence.
After 3 consecutive or 5 total unexcused absences you will be considered truant. The attendance office will contact you if your student becomes truant.
Always contact the attendance office if you have any questions on these policies.

Early Dismissals
Eastside is understanding of the fact that sometimes appointments have to be scheduled during school hours. We have 2 options for obtaining an early dismissal. For the safety of our student, no dismissals will be granted by phone, email or fax.
Student brings a handwritten note signed by a parent or guardian to school.
Note must contain time and reason for the dismissal.
Note must contain a parent or guardian phone number so the note can be verified. If we cannot reach you we will not be able to grant the dismissal. If you feel you will be difficult to reach you can call the attendance office in the morning and verify the dismissal prior to us calling you.
Notes must be turned in before the student attends any classes in order to give time for the verification process.
If a student is not present for at least half of a class period he/she will not be given credit for that class.
It is the student’s responsibility to leave class at the appropriate time. The office will not call for them. They will come by the office and pick up the approved dismissal slip.
Parents may come to the front office with the appropriate identification and request a dismissal. Once their information has been verified the student will be called for dismissal.

MAKEUP WORK
Make-up work is defined as work not completed or turned in due to a student’s absence.
This policy is set by the district.
Students may be allowed to make up work due to absences that are excused, unexcused or related to discipline with no penalty within 5 days or a reasonable time according to GCSD board policy.
If a student misses work due to an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to coordinate time with the teacher within 5 days of return to make up the work. Any work not submitted within the 5 day makeup period will turn into “late work.”
Alternative assignments may be given for performance-based tasks that cannot be recreated in a make-up format.
If a student is present on the day a test, quiz or project due date is announced and then absent on the day of the test, quiz or project deadline, he/she must be prepared to take the test, quiz or turn in the project on the day he/she returns to school.
Field trips and participation in other extracurricular events (such as athletics) are considered attendance days. Work missed due to such events can be submitted electronically by midnight on the day that it is due. Items that cannot be submitted electronically should be submitted the following attendance day.
A zero may be put in the gradebook as a placeholder until the assignment is completed, turned in and graded.
Students are encouraged to utilize the before and after school tutoring programs to complete make-up and late work in a proactive manner.
Late Work Policy
Teachers reserve the right to alter this policy based on extenuating circumstances. Extenuating circumstances should be discussed with the administration.
Late work is defined as work not completed/turned in on time even though the student attended the class.
Any assignment which is not turned in on time will be deducted 10 points off of the original grade earned for each school day the assignment is late up to five days.
After five days, the student will be assigned a 0 for the assignment.
Late work will not be accepted after the end of a grading period.
Students who have 504/IEP/ESOL accommodations specifically allowing for extra time may exceed the 5 day window to maintain compliance with their respective educational plan.
Dual Credit courses may have varying late work policies that are aligned with their parent university.
