Classroom Expectations

Aside from the general rules for all students at Berea Middle School, I have established 5 "Non-Negotiables" for my own classroom. In order for my class to run as smoothly as possible, the students will need to abide by the following expectations.

1. RESPECT and MANNERS are REQUIRED for all members and visitors of this classroom.

      • "Please"
      • "Thank You"
      • "You're Welcome"
      • "Yes/No Mam/Sir" (ADULTS ONLY)
      • "May I..."
      • Raising your hand
      • Sitting quietly when waiting on instruction
      • Being HONEST!
      • Following directions, the FIRST time

2. EVERYTHING is EARNED!

Grades, rewards, and privileges are ALL earned. Nothing will be given to you, "just because". Laziness will not be tolerated in this class.

3. If you have nothing nice to say, you will say NOTHING AT ALL!

      • Bullying
      • Inappropriate/ harsh language
      • Complaining
      • Bad attitudes

4. Stay on TASK and ENGAGED!

      • Asking/answering questions
      • Completing given assignments
      • Not being a distraction

5. You must GROW!

Growth is inevitable, so this is the one rule you will probably never break. As long as you are working hard and putting forth your best effort, you will grow.

If the students are not able to uphold the expectations that they have created or those that I have established, they will receive lunch detention with a written assignment, a written assignment that must be signed by the parent, a phone call home, or disciplinary action from administration (referral)
