*Students should be able to complete assignments independently with a “Parental Check-in” to see that they are on the right track.

*Students can be expected to do about 30 minutes or LESS of homework each night. They will be expected to read each night.

Procedures for Non-Instructional Routines

Attendance: Any student who enters the room after the 8:00 bell will be tardy and will need to get a tardy note from the Attendance Clerk. Attendance will be taken in Powerschool by 9:00am.

Lunch Money: The teacher will have a lunch money envelope and as students give money it will be recorded on the sheet and placed in the envelope. The teacher will take it to the lunchroom during their scheduled lunch time.

Lunch Choices: The lunch choices will be announced on the morning news show, students will select a choice in the morning and the students will line up by their lunch choices when going to lunch.

Recess: Twenty minutes of recess will be given daily.

Dismissal: Students will be dismissed from classrooms and called to their designated area using the district dismissal system.

Behavior Management

Fourth grade uses a positive behavior reward system where students can earn rewards and praise for exemplary behavior. Students who have a behavior problem within the class will complete a behavior reflection sheet and be re-taught the correct response. Severe cases will result in a meeting with the principal. Guardians will be contacted with any behavior concerns.

Assessments

Each subject will have major grades (tests, projects, essays) and minor grades. Grades are weighted according to Greenville County Guidelines – major grades count 40% and minor grades count 60% in reading, math, science, and social studies. Major grades count 40%, minor grades count 60%, and spelling/grammar counts 10% in Language.

Missed Work/Make-up Work

If your student is absent, an arrangement will be made, based on the circumstances, with due dates for the missed work. It is their responsibility to make sure these assignments are completed and handed in during the arranged time period. The district policy states the amount of days missed is the time frame for making up the work.
