Place of birth: Winkler County, Texas

Education: I attended the following schools and colleges: Arkadelphia High School, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. I graduated in 1974, which means I'm getting pretty old. I also attended

• Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. BA degree in English.
• University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas. MA degree in English
• Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont. M.Litt degree in epic poetry.
• Oxford University, Oxford, England. This was a study-abroad opportunity as part of my studies at Middlebury College.

Family: My immediate family consists of my wife and two adult children. My wife teaches at Greenville High School. My daughter LaClaire lives in California and my son Andrew lives in Charleston. We also have three dogs, named Juneau, Holly, and Two-Tone..

Hobbies: The activities I enjoy most outside of school are reading (something besides student papers), listening to music of various types, playing the guitar, and traveling.
