About Me

About Me

I have been living in Taylors and teaching at BRMS since 2004, but this area has been close to my heart my entire adult life. I chose to go to Furman University when I was 13 years old, mainly because I thought this area was the prettiest place in the world. I graduated from Furman in 1982 with an English degree and reluctantly went back home to Florida dreaming that one day I'd be back. After living and teaching in Florida, Chicago, Maryland, and North Carolina, I'm finally back near my alma mater and loving it.

My family is enjoying living near my in-laws here. My husband, Mike graduated from Furman also, and is the Episcopal Priest at Church of the Good Shepherd in Greer. Our two sons are in their twenties, and living in Greenville. We adopted a new puppy this year to help fill our empty nest.

I love teaching special education classes because the students are so amazing and interesting. I've always believed people have to be both intelligent and motivated when they have a learning disability, because they need to decipher information in much the same way as solving a puzzle before acquiring each piece of information or new skill. I find this challenge builds character in most of my students. They amaze and entertain me on a daily basis.
